GEF PROJECT TO SUPPORT CATTLE REARING THAT HEALS, NOT HURTS
A Global Environment Facility project in Colombia, Costa Rica and Nicaragua prepared with support from LEAD hopes to replace degraded grasslands or pastures with varied vegetation. Success of the project would result in cows feeding in the pastures while one of Latin America's most challenging problems comes closer to being resolved. |

BLACK SOLDIER FLY AND OTHERS FOR VALUE ADDED MANURE MANAGEMENT
It is generally known among scientists that insects can digest manure and produce high quality feed for animals, but until recently this system has not been widely used because of relatively high costs required for biosecurity, facilities and labor. The use of the black soldier fly, however, is making this system of manure management less costly. |
